After You Apply
After you submit your application for housing, you will receive an email from the Housing Office that will include your Housing License Agreement, which will contain information regarding payments, cancelation and associated fees, as well as general terms and conditions. The License Agreement is a legal binding agreement with cancelation penalties. You should only sign the License if you are sure about your commitment.
You will have three (3) business days from receipt of this email to return your signed license and place a hold on your desired unit. If you do not return your signed license within three (3) days of receipt, please contact the Housing Office before submitting it to ensure that the space you applied for is still available.
The forms below must be submitted at least three days prior to your move-in date. ▾

- Copy of your Acceptance Letter or proof of your affiliation with UMB, UMMC, or another local college or university.
- Financial Aid Deferment (Only Fayette Square residents who are paying with financial aid)

- For individuals requesting a waiver, please email umbhousing@umaryland.edu to be sent the waiver form.

- For students who wish to have their Spouse/Domestic Partner live with them, please email umbhousing@umaryland.edu to request the Spouse/Domestic Partner License Addendum. Supporting documentation is required to be emailed to show a legal and financial connection with the student and spouse/domestic partner. An additional $200.00 monthly housing fee is required for this process.
- Fayette Square is Pet friendly and welcomes residents to bring their pets. If you are interested in bringing or getting a pet, please email umbhousing@umaryland.edu to request the Pet Addendum form (Fayette Square Only). Pets are not allowed in Pascault Row. Specific requirements and limitations are provided within the Pet Addendum and a one-time (per move-in) fee of $350.00 and additional $25.00 monthly fee are required.
- If you have a service animal or assistance animal, please email umbhousing@umaryland.edu as soon as possible. Residents will be required to have their service/assistance animal registered and approved by UMB, UMMC, or their home university.
- Building Access: During the check-in process, residents will be issued a temporary access card which will provide swipe access to Fayette Square. For UMB Students, once you have picked-up your University OneCard, it needs to be brought to the Housing Office to be activated for Fayette Square. Once your OneCard is activated, the temporary access card should be returned.
Suggestions for what to bring with you (or have shipped to you) for move-in ▾
This is a list of items that are not provided by UMB Housing, but that many residents bring with them to make their apartment feel like home. If you have roommates, you may want to contact them to coordinate on larger items.
- Mattress Pad
- Bed and Bath Linens (including bath mat)
- Shower Curtain with hooks (Fayette Square only)
- Lamps (There are no overhead lights in the bedroom or living room areas)
- Kitchenwares (pots & pans, dishes, silverware, glassware, can opener, dish rack, etc.)
- Small appliances (coffee maker, toaster or toaster oven, blender, air fryer)
- Laundry Basket / Bag, Detergent, and Softener (all machines in Fayette Square are HE certified)
- Trash Cans for bathroom and kitchen
- Decorations for walls (Only small nails or pinholes or allowed for decorating, no double stick tape)
- Entertainment devices (TV, Laptop, Computer - wall mounts prohibited)
- Computer & Ethernet Cable
- Charging Cables
- Toiletries (including toilet paper)
- Food / Beverages
- Book Bag / Backpack
Planning for your move-in day ▾
Residents can check in on or after the date listed on their Housing License Agreement. Check-in is available 24/7 at the Housing Office, located at 518 W. Fayette Street; Baltimore, MD 21201. If possible, it is recommended that you pick up your University OneCard prior to move-in so that it can be activated for Fayette Square once you arrive (please contact the OneCard office for further information).
All residents will receive a welcome email prior to their move-in date. The email address this is sent to will be the email address that all future communications will be sent to. If you want to change your primary email address, send an email to umbhousing@umaryland.edu with your request. In the welcome email, there will be information about signing-up for Courtyard access for vehicle unloading (Fayette Square only), parking registration if you are bringing a car, as well as other pertinent information.
Please review the welcome email and all attached documents closely as all pertinent information for move-in is provided. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are excited to welcome you to campus!
Parking paperwork to complete before you arrive ▾
Fayette Square Residents: If you wish to utilize on-campus parking at the Lexington Garage (660 W. Lexington St.) or Baltimore Grand (5 N. Paca St.) for parking your vehicle, please email umbhousing@umaryland.edu. Parking is an additional monthly fee - Lexington Garage @$70.00 p/month and Baltimore Grand @$94 p/month. You must confirm which garage you would like to register for BEFORE you complete the Parking Office parking application. UMB Housing will also send you a Parking Addendum for you to e-sign that will be emailed to you as either a HelloSign or DocuSign document.
The Fayette Square Parking Garage (located on the 1st floor and ground level of the Tower Building), is also available ($145.00 p/month) and is assigned based on a Lottery Drawing due to limited space available. You will NOT submit the Parking Office parking application, but should submit the Lottery Registration form linked in the Move-In document attached in the Welcome email.
Pascault Row Residents: Please follow the Resident Student section of the Parking and Transportation Services website. You DO NOT have to complete a parking addendum.
Please note, there are not any electric vehicle charging stations available in the Fayette Square Parking Garage. EV charging stations are available in both the Baltimore Grand and Lexington Garage.
