Welcome to Parking and Transportation

Welcome to the Office of Parking and Transportation Services (PTS). We are committed to providing the University community with a variety of safe and efficient resources for parking and transportation.

Our aim is to provide excellent customer service. We aspire to balance parking availability with demand and provide alternative transportation options. 

We offer a variety of alternative transportation options. Our current transportation system is economically, environmentally, and socially unsustainable. Shifting away from our reliance on single-occupancy vehicles will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air and water quality, reduce dependence on foreign oil, alleviate traffic congestion, and improve public health and equity. In doing so, we will improve overall quality of life. As we identify new and innovative customer-friendly operations, we will provide information on these changes.

The Office of Parking and Transportation Services is dedicated to providing excellent services. In 2018, a study was conducted and informed our services. The Parking Study Powerpoint has all of the information and findings about the study.

I am writing to you today about something I am sure you already know, and that is how incredibly fortunate you are to have Rodney Harris as an employee. I am truly at a loss for words. It has been so very long since I have encountered such a professional, detail-oriented, focused, and kind individual. In my career, I have encountered many, many, many government and quasi-government employees, and over the last five-10 years have noticed how their caliber and quality have really declined. Mr. Harris is an outstanding example of the perfect employee professional: polite, focused, timely, very experienced, knowledgeable, detail-oriented, a very attentive listener, fair, and very kind. My husband and I had reason to visit the Medical Center yesterday for the first time ever and actually found it quite the experience resulting in a very stressful issue when it came to us leaving the parking lot and the confusion that arose. Suffice it to say Rodney was able to resolve our concerns today. Anne
After an experience with Parking and Transportation Services, I thought I had to write to you. I requested a staff daily parking pass yesterday afternoon. The information was easily found on the website and the electronic request process was effortless. After what felt like minutes, I received a notification that my application was reviewed and approved, and that my parking permit was available for pickup, and that I could make an appointment to retrieve it. I used the automated appointment scheduler to pick a convenient time to pick up the permit on the same day I requested it. When I arrived at the end of the day, the woman working the front desk was friendly and immediately retrieved my permit before I even said my name. She remembered me from when I was a student at UMB! I believe her name was Jennifer. I was absolutely blown away by the customer service yesterday. It was so fast, easy, and friendly. You’ve clearly got a great team. Bill
I wanted to write to say how much I appreciate the two employees who came to my rescue yesterday on campus. I discovered that my tire was flat when I got to the garage last evening. The two young men who that came to help me were extremely courteous. They were very professional and skilled, informing me that there was a nail in my tire, and even when my tire seemed stuck, they remained calm and persevered in removing the flat tire and putting the spare on so that I could get home. I wanted to drop a note to say thank you again for your professionalism and kindness — it really made my day! Karleen

I want to commend your team and how well they are doing to keep the School of Dentistry garages clean during the COVID-19 crisis. I usually park in the Pearl Garage, and the last time I parked there I could tell that the maintenance team was definitely aware and doing their job with regard to disinfection of surfaces that could potentially harbor the coronavirus. Most recently I parked in the Lexington Garage since the Pearl Garage has been closed, and that garage is as clean. Thank you for your efforts. Valli
Since the construction of the Pearl Street Garage, I have contacted parking and the dental school administration about painting each floor a different color to assist faculty, staff, and, most important, patients in being able to remember the color of the floor they parked on. Since this is my 48th year, and I recall the first garage I parked in (location of VA that had colors for each floor), I wondered if it would ever happen. BRAVO, OUTSTANDING, THANKS, WELL DONE ON FINALLY PAINTING THE PEARL STREET GARAGE. ... YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. My heart pounded watching the painting in progress and to note the number of stripes designating the particular floors. WOW! Job well done, and faculty, staff, and patients have commented on the elevators (also new and ‘talking’) about how much easier it is to locate their cars. James
I have been wanting to submit this for a while, but time always gets away! I want to simply say that the staff at Penn Street Garage is fantastic. There is not a morning, regardless of time, that they are not friendly or smiling, even on a rainy Monday. They are cheerful, helpful, and kind, and I wanted to let you know. Sarah
