Chinese Student Scholars Association (CSSA)

The Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) is a nonprofit and nonpolitical organization composed of a voluntary executive committee. The UMB CSSA is an official organization at the University of Maryland, Baltimore to represent the voices of the Chinese community within the University. We are actively participating in activities on campus as well as in major events in Baltimore.

Zijin Xu is a 3rd-year PhD student at the School of Pharmacy at UMB. He earned his BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Shenyang University of Chemical Technology in China and his Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. In addition to his academic pursuits, he serves as a senator for the CSSA (Chinese Student and Scholars Association). In this role, Zijin is committed to creating a welcoming environment where students can explore Chinese culture while forming meaningful connections. He believes that cultural diversity is a cornerstone of campus life and aims to bring people together to bond, make new friends, and share unique experiences. In his free time, he enjoys playing computer games, cooking, and going to the gym.
