Fitness

We encourage you to register in advance by creating a CommunityPass account.  A select number of drop-in spots are available at first-come, first serve. For more information, call 410-706-8260. 

Yoga
Mondays 6 to 7 p.m. 
Join us for a soothing session. Have your mat, towel, and water ready. 

Line Dancing 
Tuesdays 6 to 7 p.m. 
Move and groove to high-energy dances like the Wobble and Cupid Shuffle. 

 

 

 

Community Walk
Tuesdays 12:15 to 1 p.m. 
Join our friends from St. Peter's Adult Learning Center every week for a easy-paced loop around the neighborhood. Rain or shine; wear comfortable shoes and meet in front of the CEC.

Pilates
Wednesdays 6 to 7 p.m.
Discover the benefits of this low-impact exercise that strengthens muscles while improving posture and flexibility. 

Zumba 
Thursdays 6 to 7 p.m. 
Join this supportive group that cheers for one another while moving at their own pace. 

Senior Dance
Thursdays 10 to 11 a.m.
This exciting class is designed for older adults to improve health and physical mobility, but all are welcome.

2nd Fridays 6 to 8 p.m.
Join us for a family-friendly evening of chess. Coaches from The Board Room Chess guide players at all levels of play, whether it's your first time or you've been playing for years. Register here.

Art & Maker Programs

Free maker-based technology programs for adults and seniors. Join us every week or once in a while to learn a new skill and create your own products. Participants will have the opportunity to work with 3D printers, vinyl cutters, sewing machines, and more. For more information on the CEC Makerspace, contact Jermaine Glover at 410-706-5522. Open Build
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-6 p.m.
Drop in to use our equipment and tools and work on your own independent projects with support from other makers in the community. No formal instruction is provided during this time. 

Sit n' Sew
Mondays 5:30-7:30 p.m. 
Love to sew? Bring your latest project and work alongside other sewers while receiving support from our sewing instructor. Sewing machines, some fabric, and other essential tools will be provided. No formal instruction is provided during this time. Register here in advance to save your spot. 

Make & Take
Tuesdays & Thursdays 2-3 p.m.
Learn to safely operate Makerspace tools like sewing machines, vinyl cutters, and more while creating a project to take home. Drop-in only. Click here for the schedule or call 410-706-5522 for more information. Adults only.

Art Classes
Wednesdays 5:30-7 p.m. (adult); Fridays Noon-1:30 p.m. (senior)

Workforce Development

Workforce Wednesdays
Wednesdays 2 to 5 p.m. Walk-ins welcome; virtual appointments available by appointment.

Looking for help finding a job or job training? We help job seekers get on the right track. Receive one-on-one guidance about job resources in the area, résumé writing, and applications. Consult with our team, including a Southwest Works representative and volunteers from UMB’s Human Resources office.

Community Meals

Enjoy a delicious meal from a local vendor, catch up with neighbors, make new friends, and learn about the opportunities offered by the Office of Community Engagement and our partners. Computer and Technology Support

Computer Lab
Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The computer lab provides computers use and limited printing and faxing services to community members at no cost. Please note the open days and times depend on if programming is happening in the computer lab. If possible, please call ahead to confirm if the lab is available.
 Youth (17 and under) must be supervised by an adult to use the lab. 

Community Help Desk
3rd Wednesdays 2 to 4 p.m.
Need help with your computer, smart phone, or other tech device?  Looking for support accessing programs online? The NPower Community Helpdesk provides tech professionals to help you navigate through your most challenging tech issues. Learn more and register here. 

Services

Health Suite
Make an appointment here. Walk-in hours: 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The CEC health suite will offer programs to support neighbors with health and social needs. Examples of services include: 

  • Conducting health assessments and screenings to link neighors to providers
  • Assisting neighbors with health care navigation and coordination 
  • Provide health education and coaching
  • Connecting neighbors to resources that can help with health and social needs

The JustAdvice Project  
Tuesdays 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. January 16-April 5

Meet with a lawyer to discuss your legal questions and receive brief advice, free of charge. To make an appointment, call 410-929-4809 or email justadviceclinic@gmail.com. Walk-ins are welcome, but must arrive by 4:15pm to be seen. 

CASH Campaign of Maryland

Housed in the CEC, the CASH Campaign of Maryland provides Financial Empowerment services such as free tax preparation, financial coaching and benefits screenings.  

  • Free Tax Preparation- for households with income of $64,000 or less 
  • Benefits Screenings- fast and confidential screenings for 22 benefit programs such as energy assistance, medication, phones, food and more.
  • Financial Coaching- ongoing support by phone or video. Achieve short-term goals such as budgeting, building credit and paying off debt.  
  • Financial Planning- one private session with a Certified Financial Planner. Achieve long-term goals such as retirement, college savings, and homeownership.

United Way of Central Maryland
Housed in the CEC, United Way of Central Maryland provides services to support those who need to be connected to resources: 

  • Community Resources: Neighbors can meet with a 211 Community Resource Specialist to get help finding resources and services. Get connected to resources here.  
  • Homeless Eviction Prevention: Families with school-age children who are at risk of being evicted can meet with a case manager to learn about available resources to help families stay housed. If you live in zip codes 21223, 21201, 21230, to get help, contact 211 and listen for the housing option.
