Submit a prospect research request form and we'll help you find funding opportunities. You can explore opportunities on your own using the tools and resources below. Please review the list of restricted foundations before making contact. Other organizations have created resources to use for conducting searches on grant opportunities. You can also complete the prospect search form for us to use to assist you with finding corporate and foundation opportunities.

Resources and Funding Opportunities

You can search for funding and other support on your own through the following:

Cause IQ – Cause IQ provides web-based information and tools to help nonprofits and other providers grow their nonprofit client base, research organizations, and find funding.

Foundation Directory Online – A comprehensive grantmaker database of funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This website requires paid subscription. CFR has paid membership.

Foundation Search – Provides North America's leading source of funding information for non-profits and charities. The online resource includes more than 120,000 foundations, representing billions of dollars in annual granting, and includes tools to locate grants by type, value, year, recipient, donor, and historical giving trends, and much more. Funding Institutional Provides targeted funding recommendations and alerts based on a faculty member's pre-populated research profile

FundsNetServices - Find grants for every type of business, state program and category/genre that you need. FundsNetServices has compiled a massive list of grants that you can apply for.

Grants.gov – Provide list of grants offered by the 26 federal grant-making agencies. University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation does not accept federal funds but the Corporate and Foundation Relation team can assist you with editing your proposal. Work with your School’s Associate Dean of Research to submit a federal grant.

Grantmakers.io - If a foundation files taxes electronically, you can use this website to get a snapshot of the foundation – key personnel, historical giving trends, full grant listings, and more.

GrantStation – GrantStation offers nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies the opportunity to identify potential funding sources for their programs or projects as well as resources to mentor these organizations through the grantseeking process. Sign up for free email announcements of timely grant opportunities. For other services, you will need to pay for an annual subscription.

GuideStar – provides general information on foundations and not-for-profits.

Maryland Governor’s Grant Office Provides a list of state grant programs and private foundation opportunities. Each grant will have its own eligibility criteria and deadline date.

Maryland Philanthropy Network – MPN is a statewide membership association representing around 110 private and community foundations, intermediaries, corporations, donor advised funds, and public charities.

Pivot – You will need to create a username and password to use Community of Science (COS) Pivot database at the UMB Health Science and Human Services Library. Pivot combines a comprehensive, editorially maintained database of funding opportunities worth an estimated $33 billion with a unique database of 3 million pre-populated faculty profiles. Pivot allows users to search for a funding opportunity and instantly view matching faculty from inside or outside an institution. Conversely, a search for a faculty will link to matching funding opportunities.
