Demonstrates behavior that is ethical, responsible, and transparent

At UMB, we value and promote responsibility and transparency to achieve continuous improvement, the effective and efficient use of resources, and the momentum to propel us to future greatness. We hold each member of our institution to high professional standards. We are accountable for our collective and our individual decisions, actions, results, and responsibilities. We believe in ethical and professional standards and distinction in scholarly activities. We honor our commitments, and we take pride in our work.

The awardee should make every effort to keep faculty, staff, and students informed about University activities through effective communications, and be responsive to the needs of their co-workers and others through continuously evaluating and improving or recommending improvements to policies, guidelines, and procedures. Additionally, the awardee should demonstrate a willingness to hear feedback from the UMB community, including students, faculty, staff, and other clients and can share ideas or raise concerns while providing timely responses in return.

Examples of behaviors that could be recognized for this award include:

  • Conducts activities in a highly ethical manner and adheres to our values, code of conduct, and policies and procedures
  • Asks co-workers, students, and/or clients for feedback and incorporates feedback into service behaviors
  • Takes responsibility for decisions, actions, and results
  • Takes the initiative to share ideas, thoughts, and opinions
  • Participates in the University community by joining committees, voluntary workgroups, etc., attends Q&As, town halls, responds to University-sponsored surveys, etc.
