Is this campaign the same as the Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC)?

No, these are two separate campaigns. Gifts made to UMB through MCC are not included in the “Proud to Work Here. Proud to Give Here.” results and vice versa.

Proud to Work Here. Proud To Give Here.

This is UMB’s internal campaign to encourage employees to support the vital work and service performed throughout the University’s six professional schools and interdisciplinary Graduate School. Strengthening UMB’s capacity to effectively perform its multiple functions ultimately benefits all who work for the University by creating a successful, collegial environment that leads to pride, productivity, and fulfillment. From scholarship support, to research initiatives, to the work our students, faculty, and staff conduct with our neighbors in West Baltimore and beyond, the opportunities are varied and important. For the full list of giving opportunities, visit www.umaryland.edu/giving/proud.

No administrative fees are charged in connection with the “Proud to Work Here. Proud to Give Here.” campaign, meaning 100 percent of each gift goes directly to the programs designated by the donor. Payroll deduction is available for those looking to make a sustaining gift.

Maryland Charity Campaign

This is a community-based campaign encouraging UMB employees to support external organizations that contribute significantly to the quality of life in Baltimore and across the state of Maryland. MCC invites employees to charitably invest in the nearly 1,000 organizations that create broad impact beyond the University, including United Way, Red Cross, Humane Society, and many others. For the full list of giving opportunities, visit https://mcc.maryland.gov.

MCC’s primary focus is external to the University, endeavoring to take care of the broader statewide community. MCC does allow for employee gifts to UMB, but an administrative fee of 12 percent is charged on all MCC gifts by America’s Charities, the firm that manages the campaign. Payroll deduction is available for those looking to make a sustaining gift.

Why are faculty and staff being asked to give to UMB?

Faculty and staff are being asked to support UMB through the annual “Proud to Work Here. Proud to Give Here.” campaign because your collective support has the potential to make a big impact on the future of our University. Support from our UMB community also demonstrates an internal commitment that can send a powerful message to our external supporters.
