Ayamba Ayuk-Brown, MBA, described as a change agent among her peers, has worked for over 10 years in a high-level administrative capacity, currently as a business operations manager at the University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON). She received an MBA as well as a Leadership & Management Graduate Certificate from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Ayuk-Brown recently celebrated six years at UMSON and has received multiple accolades such as the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Employee of the Month for July 2022, Team Community Service Award in 2020, and the James T. Hill Scholarship Award in 2019. Her belief in shared governance has led her to roles on UMSON’s Staff, Diversity & Inclusion, and Governance Councils, which encourages her role as a UMB staff senator. 

Mentioned as one of the most ardent advocates for professional advancement, Ayuk-Brown has participated in Emerging Leaders, the Safety Pin Initiative, and the UMBrella Coaching Program, to name a few on-campus initiatives to foster professional enhancement. Prior to becoming a co-founder of UMB’s LGBTQ+ Affinity Group, Stonewall Pride, Ayuk-Brown started as a Safe Space trainer on campus. Continuing to be a champion for LGBTQ+ advocacy, awareness, and inclusion, outside of the University, Ayuk-Brown is a board member of the GLSEN MD Chapter, which is an intentionally inclusive, intergenerational, multiracial collective that advocates for safe, supportive, and LGBTQ-inclusive K-12 education. 

Outside of her professional life, Ayuk-Brown is a wife and mother and enjoys traveling with her family to explore other cultures and practices that work to unite individuals on various levels.
