A New Reality for Physician Assistant Students

The University of Maryland School of Graduate Studies has introduced virtual reality (VR) technology into its Physician Assistant Program, allowing students to immerse themselves in simulated clinical scenarios. Using VR headsets, students can observe detailed examinations of standardized patients, such as those presenting stroke symptoms, and enhance their understanding of neurologic diseases. This innovative approach aims to improve diagnostic skills and better prepare students for real-world patient interactions.
