The GI Bill site has the most up-to-date information on education and training benefits provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. You'll find information on choosing a school and applying for VA benefits, as well as VA locations, services, and special programs.

VFW Student Veteran | https://www.vfw.org/community/student-veterans-of-america

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, in conjunction with the Student Veterans of America, developed 1 Student Veteran to offer direct assistance to student veterans who have questions or are experiencing problems accessing their VA benefits. 1 Student Veteran helps to ensure veterans and families receive their benefits in a timely manner.

Provides short-term, professional counseling and psychiatric services for currently enrolled full-time and part-time UMB students. Their mission is to help promote and maintain the emotional well-being of UMB students and to serve as a resource to the entire university community.

The Baltimore VA Medical Center is the acute medical and surgical care facility for the VA Maryland Health Care System and offers a full range of inpatient, outpatient and primary care services.

Veterans Crisis Line | veteranscrisisline.net

Veterans Crisis Line is a 24/7/365 service that connects veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text.

National Center for PTSD | https://www.ptsd.va.gov/

The National Center for PTSD is a bank of mobile applications for veterans and their family members that provides self-help, education, and support for insomnia, parenting skills, PTSD, and more. Apps for iOS and Android devices are listed, all of which are free of charge.

Service and Volunteer Opportunities  

Baltimore Veterans Network 

The Baltimore Veterans Network is a collaborative partnership between the University of Maryland, Baltimore and several nonprofits throughout the city of Baltimore. The goal of the Baltimore Veterans Network is to link student and faculty volunteers with nonprofits around the city providing support for homeless veterans. Volunteers will have the opportunity to connect with a nonprofit and volunteer based on their discipline at the university, as well as volunteer for general, as-needed tasks. Want to get involved. MD State Yellow Ribbon Program

Institutions of Higher Learning (Degree Granting Institutions) may elect to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program to make additional funds available for a veteran’s education program without an additional charge to their GI Bill entitlement. These institutions voluntarily enter into a Yellow Ribbon Agreement with VA and choose the amount of tuition and fees that will be contributed. VA matches that amount and issues payments directly to the institution.
