UMB Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud computing platform that provide computing resources/services to public and private entities. AWS offers a broad set of services e.g. compute, storage, database, analytics, applications etc. https://aws.amazon.com/products/.
Benefits of AWS@UMB
As a member of the Internet2 consortium, UMB has established a contract through the Internet2 AWS agreement. The AWS@UMB contract offers several benefits:
Discounted rates:
Internet2 offers a 4% discount to the members that participate in the AWS Internet2 contract agreement.
Discounted Network Egress:
Typically AWS charges a fee for every gigabyte of data traveling in and out of the AWS cloud. Under the AWS @UMB contract for most services, the data egress charges are waived.* In order to have access to this benefit you must be issued an account under the AWS @UMB master contract.
Campus Network Access:
The AWS @UMB network connectivity framework allows for AWS services used by campus entities to have network connectivity to campus resources.
How do I get started?

- You can perform cost estimates* for services by using the AWS calculator. https://calculator.aws/#/addService
*Note: AWS@UMB accounts receive a 4% discount, which is not reflected in the costs estimates. - Once you have your cost estimate, proceed to the CITS AW Payer Account Form on the CITS form website and identify which payment option you plan to use to start the process.
What happens after I request an account?
The CITS AWS team will review the request and follow up with the requestor to obtain any additional information needed for the account creation and billing process.
Once your account has been created, you will be notified and provided any other details to let you get started quickly.
Billing information will be sent directly from the AWS authorized vendor to the account requestor/billing contact for payment.
