Ms. Tammy Lipka's team in the University of Maryland Medical System's (UMMC) Department of Neurosurgery, in particular Ms. Doneyse Bell

Ms. Lipka leads a team who embodies UMMC’s core value sets of Respect and Integrity, Well-Being and Sustainability, Equity and Justice, and Innovation and Discovery.  

While I remain an active UMMC patient, I am now stationed abroad with the U.S. military. Ms. Bell’s respect and integrity translated into action as witnessed by her performance in my patient care.  After moving abroad, her timely attention to detail allowed my current medical team access to critical medical records. Her clear, consistent, and compassionate communication embody respect for UMMC patients, and me personally. Her obvious care for my well-being is evidenced in her careful follow up, both with my UMMC medical team and with me. In dealing with a foreign medical system, Ms. Bell’s thorough knowledge of UMMC procedures enabled equitable medical solutions to which I would not otherwise have access. Her innovation in untangling international medical care requirements and coordination, including a six-hour time difference, has markedly impressed my current medical team here abroad with the level of expertise and professionalism from UMMC.
