Letter: Welcome UMB Incoming Students for Fall 2022

Note: UMB's COVID-19 vaccination requirements from 2021-2022 are still in place for all continuing students.

Dear Incoming Students:    

On behalf of Student Health Services at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) — Welcome! Students may access details about services through our website: https://www.umaryland.edu/studenthealth/student-health-center/. UMB students must:

  1. Provide proof of the following vaccinations and Tuberculosis (TB) screenings to CASTLEBRANCH by Aug. 31:
    1. Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) — 2 vaccine dates/titer
    2. Chickenpox (Varicella) — 2 vaccine dates/titer
    3. Hepatitis B — 2 vaccine dates AND Hepatitis B antibody titer
    4. Tetanus update within 10 years
    5. Tuberculosis screening (Tspot/Tb Gold) AND TB questionnaire
    6. If living on campus, provide proof of meningococcal vaccination within 5 years
    7. *Influenza vaccine due by Nov. 1
    8. *COVID-19 vaccine — Primary series is required for any on-campus student [1] (2 doses of Moderna/Pfizer and 1 dose of Janssen). Booster dose recommended. Vaccine dates and lot numbers required for documentation verification. https://www.umaryland.edu/coronavirus/vaccine/

*Must be uploaded to the UMB COVID-19 AND INFLUENZA MANAGEMENT PORTAL.

  1. Full-time students must provide documentation of active health insurance to **Gallagher by Sept. 15
    1. Opt into the Student Health Insurance Plan: United Medical Resources OR
    2. Provide active equivalent private/public health insurance.

**ALL FULL-TIME STUDENTS must opt in/out of the UMB health insurance through Gallagher by Sept. 15. 

Upload your vaccine history and TB screening to CastleBranch https://portal.castlebranch.com/UP92. Use your Student Identification Number/@ number to set up your CastleBranch account. Your classification in CastleBranch will be “Fall2022”.

Students in experiential activities should note that external sites may have stricter vaccine rules than UMB. Being unvaccinated may impact a student’s ability to participate at those external sites. Failure to complete the experiential portion of a student’s education requirements will impact their ability to graduate.

COVID-19 illness and exposures should be reported on the self-report form: https://safe.umaryland.edu/surveys/?s=TEPTH3PTX4. Upon submission, you will receive an email with instructions for our COVID-19 protocols that include isolation or quarantine instructions, return to campus information, and testing recommendations.

Students unable to obtain vaccine records can be tested and immunized at the University Immediate Care/Student Health Center. Call 667-214-1899 to set up an appointment. There may be a charge for laboratory services depending on your insurance coverage.

Non-compliant students will receive a HOLD on their registration account, preventing future enrollment. Please check with your school to see if it has additional requirements than those listed here.

[1]An on-campus student includes any student whose courses or student-related activities are performed in whole or in part on the UMB campus, Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, Donaldson Brown Riverfront Event Center, Columbus Center, University of Maryland BioPark, and other Maryland satellite offices. This also includes UMB students who attend the Universities at Shady Grove.
