Personal Protective Equipment

May 6, 2021

Employees may be required to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, gowns, or respiratory protection due to the nature of their work.

Other PPE considerations include:

• When operating in a unique setting (clinical, research, dental, child care, etc.), PPE guidance originating
from the appropriate regulatory agency, research protocol, or more specific UMB guidance for that
setting should be followed.

• In hazardous chemical or biological laboratories, cloth face coverings should be removed and replaced
with disposable surgical masks when entering the laboratory area.

• Establish a consistent and adequate supply of the necessary PPE.
