The President’s Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) is very pleased to announce the appointment of TaShara Bailey, PhD, MA, as its first diversity fellow.
Bailey has an impressive background in championing organizational change in the areas of diversity and inclusion. Most recently, she served as a 2015-2016 University System of Maryland STEM Postdoctoral Fellow (PROMISE AGEP-T Inaugural Cohort) and a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Psychology.
Bailey values the importance of diversifying the scientific workforce, by broadening STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) participation of under-represented groups. She has extensive experience in recruitment and enrollment retention management, as well as strategic planning. Bailey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural and biosystems engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and a Master of Arts in educational studies and Doctor of Philosophy in higher education from the University of Michigan.
As DAC’s diversity fellow, Bailey will assist the council in designing, initiating, and performing activities to further UMB’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. She will contribute to the development of evidence-based approaches for engaging the University's faculty, staff, and students in building a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Please join me in welcoming TaShara Bailey to the UMB community.
