Luiz Fernando de Carvalho Scaglione was born in Chicago, Illinois, but both his parents are from Brazil and he moved there at eight-years-old. He attended the Facludade de Ciências da Saúde de Barretos, a new medical school headed by Henique Prata, Chairman of Barretos Cancer Hospital.

Luiz is currently in the second year of his residency of General Surgery at Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. He has high expectations for the observership program since the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center is world-renowned for trauma care.
