Mio Kamijo, International Student Advisor in the Office of International Services, was named Employee of the Month in March in recognition for her dedication to supporting international students and efforts to organize a new Graduate School gerontology course and two-week study abroad trip to Japan.

Mio was nominated for the award by Gina Dreyer, Associate Director of International Services; Amy Ramirez, Executive Director of Global Learning and International Services; and Flavius Lilly, PhD, Vice Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Provost of Academic and Student Affairs.

Dreyer and Ramirez noted in the nomination that in just over four years at UMB, “Mio has grown so much and has truly owned her work engaging with the international student community on our campus. International students regularly compliment Mio for her responsiveness and empathetic approach to advising. Everything Mio touches is done in a professional, timely, and thorough manner.”
