On December 12, Mio Kamijo, International Student Advisor in the Office of International Services, attended a renewal signing ceremony for the Japan-Maryland
Memorandum of Cooperation on Economic and Trade Relations with Ambassador Koji Tomita and Gov. Larry Hogan.

Japan and Maryland have a 41-year-long Sister State relationship between Kanagawa Prefecture and Maryland and a Sister City relationship between Kawasaki City and
Baltimore.

Dr. Flavius Lilly, Vice Provost of Academic and Student Affairs and Vice Dean of the Graduate School; Dr. Takashi Yamashita, Professor of Sociology and Gerontology at UMBC; and Mio are leading a course in summer 2023 to Japan called Global Health Aging in Japan.
