Cost Sharing

Cost sharing is that portion of the project or program costs that are not paid by the funding agency.  UMB’s financial system accounts for two types of Cost Share:

  • Over the Cap (OTC)Cost share – which is automatically created by the system, where the SOAPF follows the department’s org created on the project id (PID).
  • Committed Cost Share (CCS) - is a financial commitment made by the recipient of a grant or award to cover a portion of the project costs. This commitment is documented in the approved budget and becomes a binding requirement of the award. The costs must be verifiable in the recipient's records, necessary and reasonable for achieving the project objectives, and not paid by another federal award. Departments must provide a SOAPF either in the proposal submitted to SPA or directly to SPAC’s setup team for recording in the financial system.
