Krissy Long

Manager of the Quarter

Krissy is the manager for Non-Federal Billing Team. She began her career as an Accountant I and has been with the department since August 22nd, 2016 (8 years). In her time at the University, she says she is most proud of her “relationships and rapport” that she has built. She stated that one unique quality of SPAC, “is our commitment to being close-knit and personable, despite our department’s size. We recognize and value that beyond our roles, we are all individuals with personal lives and shared humanity.” In a similar vein, when asked about what super power she would like to have it was either to be able to bring a loved one back or travel back in time.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone then that, “respect and integrity” are core values which have long since been central to her. She added that, “Since becoming a mom, sustainability and wellbeing have also become essential to me. I believe that life is about balance, and these core values are key to achieving it.” Krissy also said she grateful that the University seems to “genuinely care,” that “They provide resources for nearly everything, whether it’s professional development or personal needs. There’s always someone or something available to offer support.”
As of right now a lot of her hobbies revolve around whatever her toddler is interested in. Lately it has been puzzles. With that she does enjoy hiking, spending time with her family, and “savoring a meal [she] didn’t have to prepare.” She does have other interests like currently reading Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself by Nedra Glover Tawwab. Krissy is currently listening to Free My Mind by Tems and Be Alright by Anais.
Of her own volition, she admitted to being “easily startled.” She said a shocking fact a lot of people might not know is that she did have the chance to swim with stingrays while on vacation. Although she claims she probably won’t be doing that again, she would like to travel East to places like Greece, Italy, and Spain.

Dazhawna Miller

Employee of the Quarter

Dazhawna is an Accountant I with SPAC’s Federal Billing Team. She has been with us for one year now. She said that working with the team is her favorite part of being here saying that “The support and collaboration make every day enjoyable.” She said that the team culture in SPAC is “due to the confidence and deep understanding everyone has in their roles. This clarity creates a comfortable environment where everyone feels valued and essential.”
She embraces the Core Values of “Well-being and Sustainability.” Dazhawna is proud of her ability to adapt and assist others and said, “It’s fulfilling to know that I am growing in knowledge and now able to aid in solving problems.” Incidentally, when asked if there were any superpowers she would like to have, Dazhawna chose “mind reading.” She said, “It would allow me to better understand people’s thoughts and intentions.”
“One surprising fact about me is that I used to play instruments in high school band. I played both the clarinet and the bass drum, though I wasn't particularly skilled at either.” While you might not find her playing music, she does enjoy listening to a wide range of music from older hip hop to gospel to classical. When she has free time outside of work and classes, Dazhawna also likes to go bowling, hike with her dog, and play the Sims.
