Commencement is by far the best day of UMB’s year. On this day, we celebrate the culmination of a lot of hard work and, yes, the beginning of much more.

For on this day, we send our graduates out into the world to fulfill the mission for which we’ve prepared them: Improve the human condition and serve the public good.

2019 ushers in a new commencement era at UMB. Instead of commencement ending UMB’s multiday graduation activities, this year it begins them. The Universitywide commencement ceremony will be held at Royal Farms Arena on Thursday, May 16, at 9 a.m. Our commencement speaker is Barbara Pierce Bush, co-founder of Global Health Corps, a nonprofit organization that prepares young, diverse leaders to secure health equity worldwide. Our annual Party in the Park will immediately follow the Universitywide commencement, and each school will subsequently host its own graduation ceremony for students.
