Universitywide
UMB President Bruce E. Jarrell, University System of Maryland Chancellor Jay A. Perman, and Gov. Larry Hogan praised the Class of 2021 for its resilience in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Graduate School
The school’s celebration included Meet the Graduates videos for certificate, master’s, and doctoral students, plus a videotaped address by Dean Roger J. Ward, EdD, JD, MSL, MPA.

The school combined outdoor ceremonies with a livestreamed event that featured remarks from Dean E. Albert Reece, MD, PhD, MBA, and a keynote address by Victor J. Dzau, MD, president of the National Academy of Medicine.

Dean Jane M. Kirschling, PhD, RN, FAAN, presided over a virtual ceremony that included the recognition of graduates, Daisy Award winners, and philanthropists William and Joanne Conway as honorary degree recipients.

School of Pharmacy
The school celebrated with in-person ceremonies for students only; five videos recognizing graduates from its various programs; and a main video featuring Dean Natalie D. Eddington, PhD, FAAPS, FCP, and keynote speaker Freeman Hrabowski III, PhD, MA, the president of UMBC.

The school’s celebration featured individual webpages for each graduate, a livestreamed program with remarks from Judy L. Postmus, PhD, ACSW, presiding over her first convocation as dean, and an outdoor hooding ceremony.

Francis King Carey School of Law
The school’s virtual ceremony featured a livestreamed event with messages from graduates and remarks from Dean Donald B. Tobin, JD; professor Donald Gifford, JD; and student leaders from the day and evening law programs.

School of Dentistry
The school combined small, in-person pinning and hooding ceremonies with an online event to celebrate Doctor of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene graduates.
