Unum Special Enrollment February 1 - March 1, 2017
UNUM (offered through the University System of Maryland) will be having a special enrollment period from February 1 through March 1 to allow employees to add new coverage or make changes to their UNUM LTD or Life Insurance coverage. UNUM has already started sending emails to current employees and letters will go out to current UNUM participants. Coverage will be effective April 1st 2017.
What is being offered?

- Long Term Disability
Features:
- Increase the monthly income benefits under the Long-Term Disability contract from $8,000 to $10,000 for all existing and newly eligible employees, who financially qualify (60% of monthly earnings to a new benefit maximum of $10,000 per month).
- Increase the Life Insurance guarantee issue limits from $50,000 to $100,000 for all existing and newly eligible employees (with no medical underwriting).
- The guarantee issue limits for spouse will also increase from $20,000 to $50,000 (with no medical underwriting).
- Implement a 10% decrease in both the long-Term Disability and Life Insurance premium rates.
