ICTR Research Ethics Advisory Core
The ICTR Research Ethics Advisory Service provides consultation and assistance in addressing ethical issues throughout the entire research process. This service is designed to offer expert guidance to researchers ensuring that ethical considerations are integrated from study design to dissemination.
This core aims to provide information, analyze, deliberate on ethical issues, and recommend appropriate courses of action, helping faculty navigate the complexities of ethical concerns in clinical and translational research.

ICTR Research Ethics Advisory Service Core
Consultations may be requested for ethical issues arising during the planning and development of the study, its implementation, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination/ publication.
The Research Ethics Advisory Services Core will offer guidance and recommendations on ethical issues such as:
- Assistance in applying basic ethical issues of autonomy, beneficence, and justice in research.
- Providing an understanding of the balance and disclosure of risks and benefits of participating in research studies.
- Aiding in the understanding of the concepts of vulnerable populations, fairness, coercion, exploitation, discomfort/harm, voluntary consent, competence to provide consent, anonymity, confidentiality, and privacy in all research activities (e.g., recruitment, data collection, analysis, interpretation, dissemination, etc.).
- Assistance in developing ethical approaches in obtaining voluntary informed consent and assent.
- Responding appropriately when an unforeseen event occurs during all research activities (e.g., recruitment, data collection, analysis, interpretation, dissemination, etc.).

Restrictions. No Exceptions.
- Applicants must have a FACULTY APPOINTMENT of AT LEAST 51% to apply. Proxies (research staff, students, residents, etc.) are not allowed to complete the application.
- Applicant must be PI of the project.
