Laurie Graham

Laurie GrahamDr. Laurie M. Graham, PhD, MSW, has committed her career to violence intervention and prevention.

Currently, Dr. Graham is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work in Baltimore. She came to this position with more than a decade of experience addressing sexual and intimate partner violence in community settings. Using a healing-engaged approach, Dr. Graham is committed to identifying innovative and feasible ways to prevent violence through community-engaged and participatory research. She does this by simultaneously expanding knowledge that informs violence prevention strategy development and conducting intervention research and evaluation projects. As an educator, Dr. Graham provides interactive, skills-based educational opportunities concerning trauma and violence for social work practitioners and researchers as well as allied professionals. Dr. Graham received her MSW and PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social work where she was a Caroline H. and Thomas S. Royster Fellow and Injury and Violence Prevention Fellow. She was a recipient of a 2023 Maryland Daily Record Leading Women Under 40 award and received the 2013 Statewide Peer Support Award from the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault in recognition of dedication and devotion to end sexual violence.
