Elizabeth Galik, PhD, CRNP, FAAN, FAANP

Elizabeth GalikElizabeth Galik is a professor and chair of the Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and a nurse practitioner who specializes in the medical and neuropsychiatric care of older adults with dementia.

She teaches in the Adult Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program and has served as the principal investigator on externally funded research grants that have focused on improving care practices within post-acute and long-term care settings.

Dr. Galik has practiced clinically as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner in post-acute and long-term care settings for over 25 years. She is the editor-in-chief of Caring for the Ages, a past president of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association, a board member of the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, and has served as an expert advisor for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration-funded Center of Excellence to improve behavioral health in long-term care settings.
