Disability Rehabilitation Podcast
September 25, 2024
A PATIENTS Program podcast episode that talks about ways to improve outdoor walking and use of transportation, so people can get back to doing things they love after injury or illness.
In August, the Bridge, the podcast for the PATIENTS Program, hosted featured guest Dr. Jason Falvey, PT, DPT, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science and the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He also serves as the inaugural director of the school’s Center for Disability Justice.
Dr. Falvey is a physical therapist and leads the ENhancing Rehabilitation to Improve Community Health (ENRICH) lab, which aims to reduce mobility inequities among older adults. He works to help older adults get around the home and community after a hospital stay. His research looks at ways to improve outdoor walking and use of transportation, so people can get back to doing things they love after injury or illness.
In this episode titled, “Overcoming Challenges in Disability Rehabilitation,” podcast host Rodney Elliott, Engagement Specialist with the PATIENTS Program, sat down with Dr. Falvey to discuss his innovative approaches to resolving mobility challenges.
