Should Parents of Young Children Be Worried About Omicron BA.2?

More and more parents are alarmed that Omicron seems to be impacting children under the age of 5 more than Delta. But is there a true cause for concern?
According to CNN, the Omicron subvariant BA.2 is now the most prevailing COVID strain in the country. Highly contagious, 51 percent to 59 percent of all COVID-19 infections reported last week were due to BA.2. Over 70 percent of cases in the northeast region of the United States were caused by BA.2.
CNBC says that this subvariant spreads 75 percent faster than Omicron BA.1, but White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci doesn’t believe we’ll be hit by another surge and said reintroducing COVID restrictions isn’t necessary. Parents are alarmed as Omicron seems to be impacting children under the age of 5 more than Delta.
