Standards For Accreditation

To be eligible for, to achieve, and to maintain Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation, an institution must demonstrate that it fully meets the following Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation. Compliance is expected to be continuous and will be validated periodically, typically at the time of institutional self-study and during any other evaluation of the institution’s compliance.

2025 Middle States Self-Study Report

The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Middle States Self-Study Report was finalized in February 2025 after a nearly three-year process in advance of an April visit by an evaluation team from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

The report includes an Executive Summary overview of UMB and its seven schools, plus sections on each of the seven MSCHE standards for accreditation. Each section includes: Statement of the Standard, Requirement(s) of Affiliation (ROA); Statement of Compliance; Summary Determination; Opportunities for Improvement; and an Evidence Inventory for the respective standard and ROA.
