Fritzner Edouazin

Fritzner Edouazin With more than 10 years of experience in law enforcement, Pfc. Fritzner “Ed” Edouazin says this career aligns with his personal values of integrity, public service, and commitment to helping others. Before joining the University of Maryland Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD), he served as a correctional officer with the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services for 5 1/2  years.

“My favorite part of the job is building collaborations with police officers within my department and other law enforcement agencies across the nation,” Edouazin says.

In August, Edouazin and other UMBPD personnel received commendations from Chief Alice K. Cary, MS, for providing CPR and using an Automatic External Defibrillator on a person who was unconscious and not breathing. Because of his quick actions, Edouazin helped save the person’s life, Cary says.

As an officer, Edouazin has helped numerous people in trouble. One of his most memorable moments on the job was when an elderly couple from Delaware flagged him down.

“The couple had been looking for a nearby hospital for approximately 30 minutes because the gentleman was oxygen-dependent and was running low,” Edouazin says. “I used my police cruiser, activated my lights and sirens, and escorted them to the University of Maryland Medical Center emergency room. I contacted the hospital while in route and had a canister of oxygen ready upon our arrival.”

Being a police officer is not without its challenges. Edouazin says he works with members of the community to educate them about police work and gain their trust. He enjoys continuing to learn about policing and taking advantage of career opportunities within the department.

Outside of work, Edouazin enjoys learning about real estate and investment properties. He is fluent in multiple languages.
