Each morning, security officer David Laveist wakes up knowing he gets to come in and make a difference. "I like getting to engage with faculty and students every day," he says. 

Laveist has been a security officer for nearly three years, starting as an ambassador and dispatcher at Maryland Live! Casino before joining the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD). He also works as security supervisor for S.A.F.E. Management at M&T Bank Stadium.

If that isn't enough to keep Laveist busy, he's also in his final semester to earn a degree in fashion retail and merchandising and is expected to graduate in June. In the future, he hopes to earn a bachelor's degree in business and pre-law. 

"It's important to always remain focused and strive to be the best," says Laveist. "Put your best foot forward."

In his free time, Laveist likes shopping, hanging out with friends, and eating. "I love food!" he says with a laugh.
