Bryan Hake

Bryan HakeWe don't know if PFC Bryan Hake is a Swiftie, but the officer did tell us he was next to Taylor Swift at a Ravens game last year!

As a police officer, Hake says he enjoys not knowing what each day will bring. "I face any challenges head-on and work through them," he says. "I don't sweat the small stuff or things I can't control."

Hake has worked with the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Department of Police and Public Safety for two years. Before that, he served The University of Baltimore for six years, and Baltimore City Police for 23 years.

"I became a police officer to help people and enjoy the spirit of service," he says. "I bring the same work ethic to the job today that I brought when I first started as a police officer. It's important to come to work every day when others count on you."

Hake says his most memorable moments happen when starting with new departments and learning new skills and aspects of law enforcement. He also enjoys building camaraderie with those he works with.

For those new to campus, Hake says you should be aware of your surroundings. "Don't leave valuables or attractive items to a thief visible in your car," he says.

In the future, Hake hopes to enjoy retirement. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, boating, hiking, fishing, crabbing, and traveling.
