Christopher Finn

Christopher Finn bioLt. Christopher Finn has been with the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Department of Police and Public Safety for nine years. The lieutenant was surprised to be named a Spotlight Officer, as he mostly works behind-the-scenes.

Finn was a trooper with the Maryland State Police for 27 years before coming to UMB. His role requires managing multiple projects at once, including policies and accreditation

"One of my greatest achievements is helping the department attain the CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) 'Excellence Award,'" says Finn. "This is the first time the department has achieved this award since 1996, when it was first accredited by CALEA."

Finn's work is critical to helping the department receive professional recognition for law enforcement excellence. The department is one of only two in Maryland that is dual-accredited with CALEA and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).

Finn recommends all employees take advantage of UMB's tuition remission program, which is an excellent opportunity to attend any University System of Maryland school! Outside of work, the lieutenant enjoys spending time with family and listening to his favorite band: Earth, Wind, and Fire.
