Tania Cunningham

Tania Cunningham BioIf you've ever been inside the SMC Campus Center, you know Tania Cunningham. The security officer's friendly smile and warm "hello" from the front desk welcomes employees, students, and visitors to the University's central hub.

Cunningham has served the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) for nine years. She retired from the Department of Corrections after working there for 21 years. She says she joined the department to serve and protect.

"I enjoy coming to work. I enjoy what I do," she says. When she faces challenges on the job, she takes each day as it comes and handles each situation accordingly.

Cunningham loves working with many friendly people each day. She says the love she received when she lost her husband a few months ago was her most memorable moment on the job.

Cunningham says she's a homebody who enjoys a simple life - going to work, the market, church, watching TV, and listening to her "oldies." In the future, she hopes to fully retire and live her best life.

When you see security officer Cunningham in the SMC Campus Center, be sure to say hello! "To know me is to LOVE ME!" she says.
