UMB Policy on Policy Review

Purpose

UMB adopts this Policy for the purpose of requiring routine reviews of all University policies and procedures to maintain up-to-date compliance with institutional and legal requirements. 

Policy Statement

UMB Policies are developed based on University, USM and legal requirements to create consistent practices and business operations, set behavioral expectations, mitigate institutional risk, and communicate University wide roles and responsibilities.   

Scope and Exceptions

The Office of Institutional Policy Management endeavors to review all UMB Policies and Procedures within the University's library of policies and procedures at least once every 5 years to ensure that the University’s library of policies and procedures are updated as needed with current responsibilities and behavioral expectations. 

Each departmental unit is expected to complete a review of its existing policies within 3 months of a notification from the Office of Institutional Policy Management. Policy updates must be submitted in the Policy Administration System, https://www.umaryland.edu/policies-and-procedures/
