Maryland Charity Campaign: Follow-up Appeal

Dear Colleagues:

Last month, I invited you to contribute to the Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC), a workplace giving program for state employees. Today, I write with a bit more urgency, asking you again to consider joining this campaign. Our goal is to raise $146,000 by Dec. 18, and right now we’re only about one-quarter of the way there.

I know the holiday season comes with many demands on your philanthropic spirit, but I do hope you’ll consider adding one of the MCC’s 800-plus charitable organizations to your giving list this year. Even modest donations mean a great deal to the nonprofits that rely on our goodwill. And participation means as much to me as the money we raise, so if you have only a few dollars to give, I ask you to do it.

Here’s how:

  1. Scan the 2018 Giving Guide for the names or codes of the charities to which you want to donate.
  2. Go to the Maryland Charity Campaign and click on the Give Now
  3. If you don’t already have an account established, click Create Account under First-Time User.
  4. You’ll be prompted for your Invite Code. This is “U,” plus your UMB Employee ID number. So if your employee number is 012345, your Invite Code is U012345. (Need help finding your UMB ID? It’s on your timesheet.)
  5. Create your account as prompted.
  6. Click on the Give button in the left-hand navigation, and use keywords or codes to search for your charitable organizations.
  7. Add the selected organizations to your Shopping Cart and, when you’re through, click on your cart (in the upper right corner) to check out.
  8. If you have any questions, contact campaign chair Bill Crockett at 410-706-5743.

For years, your generosity has been a blessing to countless people and communities in need. I ask you to summon the kindness and compassion that have driven your philanthropy thus far and make even a small gift through the Maryland Charity Campaign. Our deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 18.

I thank you for considering this request.

Sincerely,

Jay A. Perman, MD
President
