Dear Colleagues: 

I’m delighted to share with you that Dawn M. Rhodes, DBA, MBA, is now senior vice president. Dr. Rhodes joined the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) in 2016 as chief business and finance officer and vice president.  

Dr. Rhodes oversees UMB's $1.3 billion budget, capital planning, facilities operations, and business affairs and serves as a key liaison to the local community on neighborhood development projects. Since joining UMB, she has brought transparency to University finances, launched a revitalized Live Near Your Work Program, created an Emergency Management Department, and hired UMB’s first female police chief. 

She is a key strategic thinker in the president’s cabinet and viewed as a thought leader within the University System of Maryland. Most recently, she has been an integral part of UMB’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, serving as a member of the President’s Crisis Management Advisory Group.
