Orientation Registration & Schedules

How to Register for UMB's New Student Orientation

  1. New students whose program is primarily in-person will need to register and attend an in-person orientation session.
    • Some Schools have automatically registered their students. This is noted under the Schools and programs listed below. These students do not need to register individually. 
  2. New students who are online learners, enrolled in an evening program or primarily studying at off campus locations, such as Shady Grove should register and attend a virtual orientation session.   
    • There are two virtual sessions: one for evening students, and another for online/hybrid/and off campus students. 
  3. Click on your UMB School below to view the new student orientation dates for your program.
    • If you are unable to attend your designated orientation date, you are welcome to join another orientation date.

University of Maryland School of Dentistry ▾

Students enrolled in on campus programs have been automatically registered by their School, and do not need to register individually. 

Postgraduate Dental:

  • Tuesday, August 6, 1 - 3 p.m.

Doctor of Dental Surgery:

  • Friday, August 16, 1 - 3 p.m.

Dental Hygiene:

  • Friday, August 16, 1 - 3 p.m.

University of Maryland School of Graduate Studies ▾

Hybrid, Online, or Shady Grove Programs:

  • Monday, August 19, 6 - 7 p.m.
    Register on Zoom
    This orientation is virtual (Zoom) and features resources applicable to online learners or students who are primarily studying at off campus locations, such as Shady Grove.

On Campus Programs:

  • Wednesday, August 21, Noon - 2 p.m.
    Students enrolled in on campus programs have been automatically registered by their School, and do not need to register individually. 

University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law ▾

M.S. in Law Program

  • Watch the orientation video held virtually (Zoom) sent to you to learn about resources applicable to online learners, students in evening courses, or students who are primarily studying at off campus locations, such as Shady Grove.
