"Whole U" Well-being Week and Annual UMB Wellness Fair

Join us for the first Annual WholeU Well-being Week, a comprehensive initiative to promote holistic health well-being across UMB April 7-11, 2025. The week is a university-wide collaboration between URecFit and Wellness and various areas of UMB centered around the theme, “Better Together,” highlighting the importance of social well-being and its impact on holistic health. A variety of activities, engaging workshops, and opportunities including our Annual UMB Wellness Fair will be offered to build social connections for staff, faculty, and students. Attend two or more events and you will be entered into raffles to win fun prizes. 

The Annual UMB Wellness Fair will take place during wellness week on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the SMC Campus Center on the first floor. The wellness fair is an event to help strengthen the culture of well-being at UMB comprised of more than fifty vendors, student leaders, campus partners, and community organizations who come together to share a wealth of resources designed to help attendees prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional wellness.

Wellness Week Kick Off: “Better Together” Podcast Please join URecFit and Wellness Peer Health and Wellness Educators for a chat to discuss common health and wellness challenges for UMB students. Research shows that student success is directly related to health and well-being. Let’s come together to look at common barriers to optimal health and well-being and learn about academic life balance strategies. Barre and Restore Combo Class, 12-12:45 p.m., SMC Campus Center, Room 349 Elevate your strength and find your inner peace in our dynamic Barre & Restore class! Barre is a muscle-sculpting workout with precise movements, holds, and pulses. In this portion of class, you will strengthen legs, glutes, core, and arms. No dance experience needed. Restore is all about gentle stretches and mindful movement to release tension, improve flexibility, and promote relaxation. All levels welcome! Please check back for registration info. 

Bloom & Grow: Mindful Flower Pot Painting, SON, Room 150, 10:30-11:30 am AND 12-1 pm, Eligible UMB Faculty & Staff Join Launch Your Life during Wellness Week, hosted by URecFit & Wellness, featuring a variety of wellness programs! As part of this week, Launch Your Life will be offering two FREE one hour art classes instructed by Art with a Heart. In this creative experience, employees will explore mindfulness and a growth mindset while painting their own terra cotta flower pot. This hands on session encourages personal development and resilience through artistic expression. Each participant will receive a flower pot to decorate and take home. UMB Annual Wellness Fair 10 am – 2 p.m., SMC Campus Center First floor cafe, fireplace lounge, room 115, and room 349 on the third floor. The Annual UMB Wellness Fair is an event to help strengthen the culture of well-being at UMB. Walking Wednesday: Wellness Week and Earth Month Edition, 12-1:15 p.m.  Join the Office of Sustainability for a special edition of our Walking Wednesdays series on Wednesday, April 9. Meet at the Lexington Building (620 W Lexington St) at 12pm for a walk in Downtown Baltimore where we will explore elements of environmental wellness. The walk will end back at the Lexington Building at 1:15pm.

The Emotion Regulation workshop will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2025, 5pm to 6pm Facilitated by SCC Psychologist, Dr. Cassie Moon, this training incorporates elements of dialectal behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and psychoanalytic therapy and is designed to help you add new "tools" for managing stress and overwhelming emotion. I. T - Functional Integrated Training, 12-12:45 pm, SMC Campus Center, Room 349 You'll move through multiple places of motion as you squat, lunge, push, pull and carry. There will be no high-impact movements and you can always customize or progress as needed with guidance from your instructor! Some body weight exercises, and some with varying resistance equipment to help channel your strength. Please check back for registration information.

VINYASA, 12-12:45 p.m., SMC Campus Center, Room 349 A fast paced breath centered flow-like class that will take you through a series of yoga poses and opportunities to celebrate yourself through the empowerment and freedom of movement. Unplug and Write at the Digital Free Café! 4-6 p.m., HSHSL Library Join the Student Counseling Center for a relaxing and creative evening at the "Digital Free Café" in the Health Service and Human Services Library (HSHSL) Gallery (first floor) on April 10, 2025, from 4 PM to 6 PM. In awareness of National Public Health Week, this event invites students to disconnect from their devices and engage in journal prompts or free writing. Bring a friend and socialize with fellow students in a welcoming environment. Journals and light fare will be provided. Don't miss this opportunity to unwind and express yourself! Register here.

Adult Camp, 4-6 p.m., SMC Campus Center, Room 115 and URFW, Room 415 Everyone deserves a chance to take a break from their routine and get away from it all, like children going to summer camp! What if there was an adult camp for grown-ups, wanting to make new friends, play games, and reconnect with their inner child? As part of Wellness Week, URecFit & Wellness is hosting an Adult Camp for UMB Students, Faculty, and Staff to participate in Team Building Games, STEM Activities, and Arts & Crafts.
