Required Trainings

The deadline to complete the required trainings has passed. If you have a hold on your account, scroll down and click the button that reads "Access Both Trainings on Vector LMS" and complete the necessary trainings. Once the trainings have been completed, the hold will be lifted within 24 hours.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) annually requires students to complete online trainings for Title IX and Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention. Failure to complete these trainings will result in a hold being placed on your student account until the training has been completed.

Students will receive separate email messages during the week of August 15, 2024 containing the log-in information for each training. All students must complete their designated training by Tuesday, October 15, 2024.   

About the Trainings

Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention Training 
We are committed to educating the UMB community about opioid use, misuse, and abuse. For this reason, it is mandatory for all first-time full-time students to complete the prescription drug misuse prevention course.

The Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention Education training is provided through VectorSolutionsTM, and addresses a variety of topics, including the science of addiction, recognizing the signs of abuse, properly using and disposing of prescription drugs, strategies to assist others, and treatment resources.   

All first-time full-time students are required to complete the online Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention module by Tuesday, October 15, 2024. All other students will receive the module as an optional resource.

Title IX Training 
University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is committed to promoting a learning environment that is free from sex and gender-based discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence. As such, all students, including visiting students, are required to complete an online module.

University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is committed to promoting a learning environment that is free from sex discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence. As such, all students, including visiting students, are required to complete online Title IX training. 

UMB is committed to promoting a learning environment that is free from sex discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence.

The training is designed to:

  • Promote awareness of the rights and responsibilities under Title IX;
  • Promote common understanding of the expectations under Title IX and UMB policy, including what is prohibited behaviors;
  • Provide information on resources available to persons that have experienced or been impacted by sexual misconduct; and
  • Encourage reporting of incidents to allow UMB to respond, remedy, and work to prevent misconduct.

All students, including visiting students, are required to complete their designated training by Tuesday, October 15, 2024. A hold will be placed on the accounts of any students who do not complete the training before the training deadline.

This training, by its nature, addresses issues of sexual harassment, misconduct, and violence. UMB understands that the training may trigger an emotional response, especially if you have experienced or been impacted by these issues or behaviors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I remove the hold from my account? 

Failure to complete these trainings before the deadline (Tuesday, October 15, 2024) will result in a hold being placed on your student account. To have the hold removed:

  1. Complete all required trainings
  2. Contact titleix@umaryland.edu to release the hold for the Title IX Training
  3. Contact rs-studenttrainings@umaryland.edu to release the hold for the Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention training 

Please note, once you complete the trainings, the hold will be automatically lifted within 24 hours of the completion time. 

Are student employees required to complete the Title IX twice every year? 

The Title IX training is an annual requirement for all members of the UMB community. To ensure all members receive information relevant to their roles, three are versions of the Title IX training available. One for UMB employees, one for UMB students, and one for UMB affiliates.

Due to their dual roles within the University student employees are expected to complete the Title IX training for students and the Title IX training for employees. This enables student employees to effectively understand their rights and responsibilities under Title IX as both a student and staff.

Are online students required to complete the trainings? 

Yes. All students, including students who complete their instruction exclusively or primarily online, are required to complete both trainings.

After completing the training(s), do I need to upload the certificate(s) of completion? 

No. The Office of Accountability and Compliance (OAC) and UMB Student Affairs monitor the trainings through VectorSolutions. Each office is automatically notified when you complete the trainings. Therefore, there is no need to upload the certificates after completion.
