AASHE STARS

The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) program is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance maintained by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). Recognized globally as the leading benchmarking tool for sustainability in higher education, the University of Maryland, Baltimore will be submitting a STARS report in March 2025. The report will cover the following areas, requiring input from departments across campus:

  • Academics (Curriculum, Research)
  • Engagement (Campus Engagement, Public Engagement)
  • Operations (Buildings & Grounds, Energy & Climate, Food & Dining, Procurement & Waste, Transportation)
  • Planning & Administration (Coordination and Planning, Investment, Social Equity, Wellbeing & Work)
  • Innovation & Leadership
